The liturgy of Good Friday is a somber one that serves as a continuation of the Maundy Thursday liturgy from the previous evening. Therefore, the service begins in silence as the night before ended in silence. The altar is bare and communion is not administered. The liturgy includes the solemn collects, the veneration of the cross and the reading of the Passion.
